Now Live: NICE Framework Mapping Tool and Workforce Reports!

The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) is excited to announce new products on the National Initiative for Cybersecurity Careers and Studies (NICCS) website – the National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education (NICE) Cybersecurity Workforce Framework Mapping Tool and a set of CISA-sponsored reports about critical challenges facing the nation’s cybersecurity workforce.

The Mapping Tool helps managers and human capital professionals determine which NICE Framework Work Roles best align with their organization’s cybersecurity positions, as well as, assess workforce capability gaps. Current cybersecurity professionals can also use the Mapping Tool to plan their careers.

Be sure to check out the NICE Cybersecurity Workforce Framework Mapping Tool on the NICCS website under the “Workforce Development” menu and the User Guide to help you understand how to get started.

Also, CISA partnered with the Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) Software Engineering Institute (SEI) to research various aspects of the cybersecurity workforce shortage. CMU-SEI produced three reports that highlight:

  • Top in-demand cybersecurity Work Roles and their knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs), detailing the biggest skill shortages. This report informs current professionals and managers of which skills areas should be invested in to build the future workforce.
  • The uniqueness of cybersecurity career pathways, providing better ways for human resource professionals to identify and assess talent.
  • The importance of establishing and using a universal lexicon when discussing cybersecurity work, which makes both staffing and searching for open positions much easier.

Be sure to check out all three reports on the Cybersecurity Resources page on the NICCS website.

Best,
